Battery of electric scooter bursts into flames in Karimnagar

An electric scooter’s battery burst into flames in  Karimnagar.

A couple of months ago, Egurla Odelu purchased an electric vehicle from Benling Falcon. His usual practice was to charge the battery before going to bed and on Sunday night he did the same.

Upon charging the battery, it went off within minutes of being charged.

Due to the fact that the battery was on charge outside the house, nobody was injured. However, the vehicle was burned in the incident.

Fires involving electric vehicles become a major problem

EV two-wheelers have been growing in popularity, but recent fire incidents have posed a new challenge.

In Telangana, a man died when the detachable battery of the electric scooter kept for charging exploded in his house earlier this month.

Electric scooter maker PURE EV expressed regret for the explosion of a battery on an electric scooter that killed an 80-year-old man in Telangana’s Nizamabad and recalled 2,000 scooters in Nizamabad and Chennai in response.

Satish Kumar jumped to safety when his electric scooter caught fire from under its seat. As the vehicle went up in flames, the passerby’s rushed to his help to douse the blaze. The electric two-wheeler was bought last year by Satish, police said.
