Bengaluru Stands Highest Cases In Karnataka Amidst Biggest Spike in 24 Hours

Karnataka recently imposed lockdown across the state to battle the rising Covid 19 cases in the state. However, the state recorded a total of 48,296 Covid 19 cases in the past 24 hours.

Bengaluru Records Over 26,000 Cases in 24 Hours

As per the latest reports, amongst the 48,296 cases reported in Karnataka, Bengaluru itself recorded 26,756 cases in the past 24 hours.

The bulletin issues confirmed the numbers and said that the state’s Covid tally now stands at 15,23,142. This includes 3,82,690 active covid cases. The recoveries have increased to 11,24,909 with 14,994 discharged in the day.

On Thursday, the death rate was 217 and out of these 93 were from Bengaluru which took the state’s death toll to 15,523. Bengaluru’s toll currently stands at 6375 ever since the pandemic broke out in March last year.

Apart from Bengaluru, Mysuru reported 35,00 cases, Tumkuru reported 1801, Mandya reported 1348 cases. Along with 1,256 in Kalaburagi, 1,205 in Dakshina Kannada, 1,282 in Ballari and 609 in Kodagu, and some other cases spread across the remaining 23 districts of the state.

Reports suggest that a total of 1,89,793 tests were conducted on Thursday and 14280 were done via the Rapid Antigen detection and the rest were via the RT-PCR method. The state’s positive rate currently stands at 25.44 percent. And the fatality rate stands at 0.44 percent.

At the same time, the bulletin read that a total of 95,81,682 people (including healthcare workers and frontline workers) have been vaccinated since the vaccination drive started.

2000-3000 Covid Patients Go Missing In Karnataka

Yesterday, Karnataka Revenue Minister reported that 2000-3000 Covid positive patients have gone missing. He said that they have been trying to reach their cellphones but they are switched off.

Talking to the media, he pleaded to the patients and said that he requests everyone to switch on their phones so the authorities can reach them and take care of the situation. He said in challenging times like these, things get even more confusing when such things happen and people reach out to the hospitals in search of ICU beds.
