Bhatti’s fast-unto-death enters second day

Hyderabad: The Satyagraha fast-unto-death deeksha launched by CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka at Dharna chowk in the city entered the second day on Sunday. The deeksha was being held to condemn the decision of the Speaker to merge CLP into the ruling TRS party without considering the complaints lodged by the Congress for the disqualification of the 12 defected MLAs.

Though the Congress leaders initially decided to hold a 36-hour deeksha, they later decided to convert the deeksha into fast-unto-death demanding that the State government disqualify all the defected MLAs. The intervention of the TPCC president led to the conversion of the 36-hour deeksha into the fast-unto-death program.

Speaking on the occasion, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the people in the State would teach a befitting lesson to the CM. He dared all the 12 defected MLAs to resign from their posts and contest the elections afresh if they think they have public support.  Noting that the people of the State voted to elect their representatives in a democratic manner, he alleged that ruling party leaders like KCR and KTR would turn the people of the State into their slaves if any damage was done to the existing democratic structure.

He also alleged that the “father-and-son” duo was out to butcher the country’s Constitution and the democratic institutions. Claiming that KTR does not have proper understanding of history, he said it was the Congress party’s Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who had brought anti-defection law in the country to protect democracy in the country. He said that there was a need to stop political terrorists like CM KCR and his son KTR in the State. (NSS)
