BJP making false promises to fool Munugode people: BRS

T. Harish Rao, Telangana’s Minister for Finance and Health, claimed on Sunday that the BJP is attempting to fool the people of the Munugode Assembly constituency by making false promises.

He criticized the saffron party for promising to increase monthly pensions to Rs 3,000 for various categories of beneficiaries if it wins the by-election, recalling that it had made a similar promise in the Dubbak and Huzurabad by-elections.

According to Harish Rao, the BJP won the Dubbak and Huzurabad seats but never kept its promise. He told reporters that the BJP is now attempting to mislead the people of Munugode after betraying the people of the two constituencies.

He claimed that the BJP has a habit of making false promises and spreading lies. He also questioned the BJP’s decision not to pay Rs 3,000 in pensions in states where it is in power.

Harish Rao noted that in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat, only Rs 750 is paid, whereas in Karnataka, Rs 600 is paid.

He also said that TRS was responsible for raising the pension from Rs 200 to Rs 2,016.

According to the minister, Telangana is the only state in the country that provides pensions to dialysis patients, toddy tappers, weavers, and people over the age of 57. It is also the only state that provides a Rs 3,016 pension to handicapped people.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader further said the BJP has a long history of making promises during elections and then breaking them.

He asked what guarantee there is that other BJP leaders will keep their promises if Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself breaks them.

Harish Rao also stated that the BJP is known for its lies and ‘jumla,’ pointing out that Modi promised Rs 15 lakh in every account, which Amit Shah later dismissed as a ‘jumla.’

He claimed that the BJP broke all of its promises, from one vote for two states to doubling farmers’ income and creating two crore jobs every year.

The TRS leader claimed that the BJP insulted Telangana by questioning the state’s formation process.

He recalled Modi’s statement that the mother was killed in order to save the child.

“Immediately after the formation of Telangana, its seven mandals were forcibly merged with Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

According to Harish Rao, the Centre is yet to allocate Telangana’s share of Krishna river water.

Though the Niti Aayong recommended that Rs 24,000 crore be allocated to Telangana’s Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya, he added that the Centre has not even provided 24 paise.
