Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today instructed the officials concerned to get land to build more godowns for storage in the state.
In a review meeting with officials, the agriculture minister said that the land acquisition, construction of godowns should be speeded up. Our government gives land for the purpose to increase the storage capacity he said. Through more godowns we aim to increase storage capacity to 1 crore metric tons of food grains, he said.
Right now we have 65.40 metric tons capacity and it should be increased to 1 crore Mt, Niranjan Reddy said. The Godowns of warehousing corporation have 2.30 lakh mt with 102 percent occupation. Only 4 lakh Mt capacity godowns available when statehood was achieved. In Telangana, we increased to a greater extent the minister claimed.

The government gave lands for this and the officials concerned should take up construction works, he said. He attributed the development to the foresight of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. KCR is for the welfare of the farmers through several programs. Rythu Vedikas came as a boost to farmers who get Rythu Bandhu Rythu Bhima, 24 hours power he added.
