AP Govt Can’t Lot Our Water, Address Irrigation, Power Amicably: Niranjan Reddy

Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said that the controversy of irrigation projects should be addressed in an amicable manner. He expressed displeasure at the AP Government for trying to draw more water by expanding canals.

Jagan Government is looting as it was done by the YSR and other regimes in the combined state, the minister alleged. Talking to media persons he accused the AP Government of indulging in a vicious campaign on our projects. AP Government is unilaterally drawing waters against norms to loot our share, he charged.

There is no truth in its allegations and complaining to Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not correct, he observed. Our state formed for the share of waters and power to be produced in the Krishna basin he maintained.

The Jagan Mohan Reddy Government cannot take away our waters by duping our people. Bachawat Tribunal and other apex bodies allocated waters to Telangana and AP before bifurcation.

The Centre is supposed to address the water row and power issues among the two states. Earlier Karnataka and Tamil Nadu fought for Kauveri waters he recalled. The BJP and the Congress governments at the Centre failed to do justice to our region, he charged.

Though the rulers in the combined state looted our share of water and power he alleged. We achieved statehood after a long battle and are not ready to lose our share he said, adding that the government is ready to fight.

The KCR government has extended a helping hand to address the issue in an amicable manner. Though Jagan Reddy is now creating troubles in this regard. Our government will move the court and the Centre cannot ignore our pleas on our rights he maintained.
