China Accuses Tesla Of Spying; Elon Musk Responds

Reports recently took over the internet claiming that China was restricting their military personnel from using Tesla vehicles. They claimed that there was a data security risk involved. However, Elon Musk had another reply.

Elon Musk Defends Tesla Against Spying Allegations

As per the latest updates, soon after the reports surfaced over the internet, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, clarified that their company would be shut down if they were into the spying business. He said that he would never get involved in something like that. He further informed that they have a very strong policy that ensures confidentiality for any information.

Musk also said that their privacy protection policy also extends to Chinese laws and regulations. And they attach great importance to protecting the user’s information and privacy.

Chinese Government Bans Tesla Vehicles In Government Agencies

Last week, the Wall Street Journal cited sources that claimed that China had restricted the use of Tesla cars for the people who work for the military or any other government agencies.

Reports also suggest that Tesla cars have also been banned (reportedly) by any of the housing compounds of families who work in sensitive industries or any other state agencies.

The government claimed that Tesla cars have record mode switched on constantly that use cameras and other sensors to gather and store information. Such information may also include short videos. And this is a matter of concern for the Chinese government as they feel that those images will be sent to the United States of America.

This is because Tesla cars have several cameras for better view of the surroundings and easy driving for the users. The restrictions came after the Chinese and US officials held a meeting in Alaska. It was their first face-to-face interaction since Joe Biden became the US President.

The Chinese regulators reportedly also are taking a closer look at the Tesla operations in China. This comes after some of the videos surfaced on social media that showed that Model 3’s battery caught fire and some of the vehicles were functioning properly.
As per the latest reports, Elon Musk will be speaking online in a State Hosted Annual Global Economic gathering in Beijing called the China Development Forum. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday and will include some of the Chinese officials as well.
