China Honors Dead Soldiers From The Galwan Valley Clash

The Chinese state media recently reported that the China on Friday honored four soldiers who were killed in the clash with the Indian army. The clashes happened at the Galwan Valley.

Soldiers Receive Honorary Titles

As per the latest reports released by the China Global Television Network (CGTN) which is a Chinese state media. The Chinese government has honored a total of four People’s Liberation Army Soldiers. Three of those soldiers died during the clash at the Galwan Valley and one was injured.

 The Chinese government has honored the soldiers with Honorary titles and first-class merit citations as per the Central Military Commission. The announcement was made today.

The Central Military Commission also revealed the names of the martyrs who were honored by the Chinese government for the first time. These soldiers were honored for commemorating their sacrifice for protecting the sovereignty and territory of their country, China.

The document released by the Central Military Commission said (as translated) that Chen Hongjun received the honorary title as the “hero for defending national territory”. Other soldiers; Xiao Siyuan, Chen Xiaogrong and Wang Zhuoran received the first class merit citations. At the same time, Qi Fabao received the “honorary title of Hero Colonel”. Qi Fabao was the person who lead the soldiers during the clashes and was seriously injured.

This comes after the Indian Army Commander Lieutenant General Y.C Joshi referred to a Russian Agency that claimed that China had lost 45 People’s Liberation Army Soldiers in the clash with the Indian Army in June last year.

India has reportedly lost 20 soldiers during the clash but China had not officially declared the numbers of the soldiers they lost.

India-China Relations To Improve In Future

Earlier this month, the Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh announced in a parliament session that both China and India have reached an agreement regarding the Eastern Ladakh area. He said that they both will be working towards decreasing the army deployment around the area in a “phased, coordinated and verifiable” manner. He further said that both the sides have agreed to enhance cooperation and mutual trust amongst the two nations.

He further clarified that India is ready to face as many challenges of any kind to protect their national sovereignty. However, the Galwan Valley clash impacted the bilateral relations between India and China.

Singh further added that both India and China reached a conclusion after nine rounds of negotiations and have agreed to take the troops back from the region. In the near future, they will be working towards other concerns as well.
