Clash during a candlelight rally in Kishanbagh sparks tension

Mild tension erupted at Nandi Musaliaguda in Kishanbagh late on Wednesday night as a group of young people held a candlelight rally in remembrance of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha, who was killed in Shivamogga.

According to the police, a group of young people held a candlelight rally to protest the recent murder of a Bajrang Dal worker in Shivamogga. During the rally, some youth stopped two persons travelling on a motorcycle and argued with them for blaming them for driving rashly.

Following the argument, members of both communities gathered at the location. The cops arrived on the scene and dispersed the crowd.

An additional police force was deployed in the area as a preventative measure. According to police officials, the organization did not get permission for the protest rally and action would be taken against them.

DCP Shamshabad, R Jagadishwar Reddy, stated that the situation is entirely under control and that no untoward incidents had occurred.

“Everyone has the right to hold such rallies as citizens. However, we ask that people notify the police and obtain prior approval. We also ask for people’s cooperation in order to keep the peace,” he added.
