Ahead of the 2022 state assembly elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has made a new string of poll promises if the party comes to power in Goa. AAP supremo on Wednesday announced free non-commercial electricity upto 300 units along with a 24-hour power supply.
Arvind Kejriwal Guarantees His Promises To Be Not Another “Chunavi Jumla”
As per the latest reports, Kejriwal arrived in Goa on Tuesday. While addressing a press conference in Panaji, he said that his promises to the netizens are not “chunavi jumla”. Rather they are a “solemn guarantee” to the people.
He said that each family will get free electricity upto 300 units per month. Along with that, he will waive off the outstanding bills and the power billing system will start with a “clean state”.
“We have done this in Delhi, we are not simply talking,” Kejriwal said. He further promised 24 hours electricity supply to the people of Goa without any power cuts.
Referring to the work done by his government regarding the electricity issue, he said that before they came to power, Delhi (reportedly) had 7-8 hours of power cuts in the summer. And just like Delhi, there are issues with the power supply of Goa as well.
He added that to fix the same (in Delhi) they changed the transformers and cables. And although it took two and a half years, today Delhi gets 24 hours electricity. At the same time, he also announced free electricity for farmers.
Delhi CM Calls Goa Politics “Corrupt”
Talking about the politics in Goa, he said that it was plagued by corruption and defection. And following this, he aims to bring change in the culture of politics if his party comes to power.
“Goa wants change. Goa wants clean politics,” said Kejriwal.
During the conference, he also said that the weather in the state is beautiful but the politics is “very corrupt”. He quoted the situation two years back on July 10, 2019 when the Congress MLAs switched over to the BJP. He said that the people chose Congress but BJP formed the government.
He then stated the current situation saying that the BJP was given 13 MLAs and now has 28. Whereas Congress had 17 MLAs and now has only 5.
“Why have elections at all? Elections become a farce. There is no meaning to elections. This is cheating. It is not right,” he also said.
