Collective Consciousness Needed to Improve Cleanliness in State’s Local Bodies: KTR

Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), KT Rama Rao (KTR), stated on Tuesday that collective consciousness is needed to improve cleanliness in the state’s local bodies.

He went on to say that the city of Indore in Madhya Pradesh is able to win the ‘Cleanest City award’ in the Swachch Survekshan Rankings for the sixth time because it is an emotional requirement for the people of that city.

The minister attended an event at MCRHRD to commemorate the winners of the ‘Swachh Survekshan-2022 Award.’ He was pleased with the performance of various gram panchayats and municipalities in the recently released ‘Swachch Survekshan 2022 Rankings.’

He attributed the success to the municipal administration department’s quality sanitation work. He also praised the Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) and officers at various levels who collaborated to achieve this goal.

“A total of 12,869 Gram Panchayats and 900 Municipalities comprise the state of Telangana. Palle Pragati and Pattana Pragati have brought a huge change in the development of these areas,” he said, adding that bringing up ideas, implementing them with funding, and performing duties correctly have all contributed to the success of these bodies.

The minister announced that the government will provide Rs 2 crores to each municipality that has received awards in the Swachh Survekshan-2022 and Indian Swachhata League (ISL) rankings in order to encourage them to perform even better in the future.

CDMA will advise ULBs on how the funds should be spent, he added.

Adibatla, Badangpet, Boothpur, Chandur, Chityal, Gajwel, Ghatkesar, Husnabad, Kompally, Koratla, Kothapalli, Neredcherla, Secunderabad, Sircilla, Turkayamjal, and Vemulawada are among the municipalities on the list.

He also stated that the municipal commissioners, chairpersons, and additional collectors of these municipalities would be sent on a “study tour” to improve their skills.

He also mentioned that ten performing and zealous officials from Telangana’s 19 municipalities will be chosen and sent on a study tour to Japan and Singapore.

He emphasized the importance of sanitation, maintaining existing infrastructure, and maintaining continuity in carrying out government-funded programs that bring about change in the state.

KTR encouraged everyone to be the first customers to encourage new startups by highlighting INKET wash (innovation and knowledge in washing, sanitation, and hygiene), which is carried out each year and where youth are encouraged to showcase their talent.

The meeting was attended by mayors, additional collectors (local bodies), chairpersons, commissioners, environmental engineers, and others.
