Commercial centres in RTC land: Mahender

Hyderabad: TSRTC owned empty places will be developed as commercial centers in near future to get more revenue, Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy today said. Mahender Reddy said that soon steps will be taken up to construct commercial buildings and provide employment to youth. He toured Chandrayan Gutta area and launched Bandlaguda RTC Office in the name of late Salauddin Owaisi as “Salar-e-Millat” along with MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and officials. Speaking on the occasion he recalled the services of Salauddin. The minister said that RTC will be connected with the Metro Rail, MMTS and provide Mini Buses to the places of public demand for transportation. RTC Buses in the city including old city will get Urdu name plates enabling Muslim commuters to find it easy to board them he said.

Telangana is number one in the country to reduce accidents he claimed. The minister called upon the people to cooperate with the officials to develop the state that sans accidents. Follow traffic norms and avoid rash and drunken driving to avoid fatal accidents he said.

He said that 95 lakh people in Telangana including 35 lakh in Hyderabad used to take the TSRTC buses every day. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao allotted Rs 1000 cr in the budget to strengthen the RTC and gave Rs 66 cr for basic facilities and infrastructure. We bought 360 mini buses and Vajra buses are performing well he said. To ease traffic problems in the city KCR has allotted Rs 26000 cr and construction of flyovers and bridges on Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy outskirts are going on. Bus terminals set up in eight places through Rs 81.52 lakh JNNURM scheme. (NSS)
