Conference on Tourism Destination held

Hyderabad: CII Telangana in partnership with the State government organized a Conference on Tourism 4.0: Destination Telangana with the theme “Linking Heritage, Tradition and Technology for a Sustainable Tourism” here today.

The objectives of the Conference were to promote Telangana as a world-class tourism destination and create a platform for developing new business models in tourism sector.  The conference was inaugurated by V Srinivas Goud, Minister for Prohibition & Excise, Sports & Youth Services, Tourism & Culture and Archaeology. In his address, the minister said the government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, was committed towards building a strong Tourism ecosystem for the State. The State has a rich heritage and culture, which needs to be showcased to the world.

He said the Mega Irrigation Project Kaleshwaram was ready for inauguration and the State government was planning to build tourism spots around the project. The State was also focusing on Temple tourism and Medical tourism. The government was exploring policy initiatives for improving investment in the Tourism sector. He urged the industry and  participants to become brand ambassadors for the State and promote Telangana Tourism.

B Venkatesham, IAS, Secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture, in his Keynote address, mentioned that the Telangana State has a feel of both tradition and modernity. “While we have the rich heritage and culture of Kakatiyas and Nizams, the State also is a top State in terms of technology, he said.

GBK Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, Pragathi Resorts, stressed the need for sustainable tourism. He spoke on the importance of biodiversity and maintaining an ecological balance. We need to be connected with our roots, he said. V Rajanna, SVP & Global Head-Technology Business Unit, Regional Head-AP & Telangana, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) also spoke.

The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation and CII signed an MoU to promote Telangana as an attractive tourist destination and explore avenues of cooperation. A Whitepaper on Telangana Tourism- Unleashing the growth potential through policy initiatives was released at the Inaugural Session of the Conference.

Anindita Sinha, Head, Corporate Communications, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited, delivered the concluding remarks at the Conference.      The daylong Conference discussed on  the business opportunities in Tourism  sector in Telangana. (NSS)
