Congress Party Drafts Comprehensive Minority Declaration for Telangana Elections

Hyderabad: In preparation for the forthcoming assembly elections, the Congress party is working on a comprehensive declaration aimed at boosting minority populations’ educational, social, and economic prospects. The Minorities Declaration Draft Committee, directed by Mohammad Ali Shabbir, met in Gandhi Bhavan to accomplish this.

AICC Secretary Mansoor Ali Khan, General Secretary In-charge of Telangana Manikrao Thakre, Zafar Javed, Sheikh Abdullah Sohail, Mohammad Azharuddin, and others attended the meeting. The party’s commitment to strengthening minority groups was stressed by the committee.

During the discussion, it was determined to collect recommendations from religious and social organization officials, as well as involve intellectuals and scholars from minority communities, to develop the declaration. A dedicated desk will be set up at Gandhi Bhavan to gather proposals in order to promote this joint effort.

Along with the declaration, the Congress electoral manifesto will include commitments for minority welfare. The Minorities Declaration is intended to be given to each minority voter’s home, demonstrating the party’s commitment to addressing their problems.

In contrast to KCR’s unmet pledge of a 12 percent quota for Muslims, Mohammad Ali Shabbir emphasized the Congress party’s historical success of achieving a 4% reservation for minorities. The committee’s mandate also included the safeguarding of waqf properties. Shabbir said that the group had received a number of ideas, which will be thoroughly discussed in future meetings.

Manikrao Thakre stressed the present BRS government’s dwindling credibility. Drawing comparisons with Karnataka, Thakre expressed optimism that Congress would receive widespread support from the minority community in Telangana. He underlined the Congress government’s commitment to upholding the 4% reservation by effective representation before the Supreme Court, ensuring Muslims’ continued reserve.
