Congress to go it alone in 2019 polls

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Congress party new in-charge Umen Chandy has made it clear that the Congress party will contest alone in the 2019 elections and exuded confidence that the party will achieve power by becoming strong independently. He exhorted that the popular governance was possible only with the Congress party.

Speaking to the media here today, Chandy said that he had meeting with the party leaders and activists and they decided to prepare an action plan within three months to strengthen the party. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said that he will do several things to make the nation shine, did nothing yet though four years were gone.

He lashed out at the Central government alleging that the centre was hiking the prices of diesel and petrol time and again troubling the people severely. He expressed concern over the Centre’s plan of lifting subsidies on petroleum products. He pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu got separated from the NDA government only to side track his four years’ inefficient rule. (NSS)
