Congress urges SEC to stop poll in Adilabad ward as its nominee was coerced to withdraw from fray

Hyderabad: The Congress party on Thursday requested the State Election Commission to stop the elections for the 34th ward in Adilabad municipality. It urged the SEC to declare a fresh schedule to hold elections in the ward.

In a statement here, convener of the PCC election coordination committee G. Niranjan said a delegation, led by chairman of the coordination committee Marri Shashidhar Reddy submitted a representation to the Election Commission on the issue. He also alleged that son of former minister and TRS MLA Jogu Ramanna had forced Congress candidate Dharma Goud to withdraw from the fray.

Niranjan also said they had also submitted the visual footage showing the forceful acts of the ruling party leader to the commission. He said it was very clear from the visuals that the TRS party leader forcibly took their party candidate Dharma Goud to the returning officer and made him withdraw his nomination papers.
