‘Congress will fight against State govt for delaying release of funds to gram panchayats’

Saying that the Congress party would fight against the State government for allegedly delaying the release of funds to gram panchayats, TPCC president A Revanth Reddy asked sarpanches to stage protests across the State.

The State Congress protested on Monday over sarpanch problems and a lack of funds for panchayats. The TPCC president was taken into custody before going to Dharna Chowk in Indira Park to participate in the protest and was taken to the Bolarum Police Station. Later that day, he was released.

Revanth Reddy told the media that the State government was usurping the power of Gram Panchayats. He claimed that funds released by the Central Government were diverted for other purposes, and he also accused the State Government of clearing bills of corporate companies but delaying funds to panchayats.

He also found fault with the police for their treatment of Congress party leaders and activists. “We will approach the High Court to seek permission for staging protests at Dharna Chowk” he added.

KCR trying to weaken Congress, claims Revanth Reddy

Putting aside their differences, Congress MPs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and A Revanth Reddy discussed internal party issues and the state action plan.

TPCC president A Revanth Reddy paid a visit to Komatireddy’s residence on Tuesday. Both MPs urged the party’s cadre and leaders to fight the State government together.

Speaking on the occasion, the TPCC president accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of plotting to weaken the Congress party across the country by forming alliances with United Progressive Alliance (UPA) allies. “Congress will win more than 90 seats in the upcoming Assembly polls.

Congress workers should be cautious and work for the party’s cause,” said Revanth Reddy. Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy accused there were irregularities in paddy procurement.
