New Delhi: The CPI National Secretariat joins the country to receive the shocking news of the murder of Shujaat Bukhari, veteran journalist and editor of Rising Kashmir, on the eve of the festival Eid. The gruesome killing has shaken the people of not only Kashmir but the people of the entire country. The two of Bukhari’s personal security officers were also killed. Two of security forces jawans, one of them was going back home to celebrate Eid were also killed by militants. The unprovoked killing will result in grave provocation to the state.
The CPI is of the firm opinion that all vexed issues can be solved within the framework of the constitution and through dialogue. In civilized democracy, communalism, narrow nationalism and brutal killing using bullets have no place.
Shujaat Bukhari was shot dead by unknown assailants at the Press Enclave in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar. Bukhari was reportedly shot by 3-4 armed men. He was shifted to a hospital, along with two of his Personal Security Officers, where all three succumbed to their injuries.
CPI condemns the gruesome killing of Bukhari and his security officers. The party while expressing its condolences to the bereaved families of all five, demands a thorough judicial probe into the incident. (NSS)
