Crackdown on encroachments and illegal ventures in Rangareddy

Only a day after the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department (MA&UDD) issued an order regarding crackdown on unauthorized constructions, the revenue officials rolled out their machines and trampled structures being build illegally in Rajendranagar, Serilingampally and Shamshabad under Rangareddy district.

On Thursday, the revenue and municipal officials pulled down several structures being built illegally on government lands besides clamped down on illegal ventures using a half a dozen machines in three major revenue divisions such as Rajendranagar, Serilingampally and Shamshabad under Rangareddy district.

Revenue officials led by RDO Rajendranagar Chandrakala Khanapur first touched down at Jiyaguda area under Rajendranagar and pulled down several houses and shades allegedly built on Musi River.

Revenue officials, who came along with Musi Riverfront Development officials under police protection, pulled down several structures. Hitachi JCB machines were used to carry out a mammoth task that lasted for almost three hours.

Though a mild tension was witnessed when some local people protested against the demolition drive, the police dispersed them from the site and brought the situation under control.

According to sources, an argument also broke out between the revenue officials and the encroachers two weeks ago when the authorities, for the first time, made a visit to the area as part of their regular inspections.

“Following an inspection two weeks ago, wherein it was found that several illegal structures come up on Musi River front area over government land in Sy.No.145, Jiyaguda in Attapur Village of Rajendranagar, we removed the encroachments finally as a deterrence measures against incursions on public property. Besides a few houses, a huge shed and a compound wall has been demolished,” informed K.Chandra Shaker, Mandal Revenue Officer Rajendranagar.

A similar demolition drive was also unleashed in Serilingampally mandal where several structures that were allegedly built on government land, were also demolished. Few hours later, another demolition drive was carried out by municipal authorities in Shamshabad municipality. Municipal officials pulled down illegal ventures especially at Maqta Bahadur Ali area.
