Cyberabad police now target farm houses

Due to the rise in unscrupulous elements using farm houses for unsocial activities, the Cyberabad police have intensified their efforts to check such establishments on weekends.

The Cyberabad Special Operations Teams, along with the local police, are performing surprise checks at farm houses and booking cases against those found to be involved in illegal activities. Certain individuals were found organizing gambling, prostitution, illegal liquor parties, drugs, and other unlawful activities in farm houses, leading to the decision to conduct special checks.

The local police and Cyberabad SOT conducted surprise checks at the farm houses under the supervision of the Cyberabad Commissioner of Police.

“Based on specific information, we conduct raids and nab the persons involved in various offences. Cases are booked against them at local police stations. The intention is to prevent farm houses from being used as an accommodation to carry out illegal activities,” said an official Cyberabad SOT.

In addition to Moinabad, there are farm houses in Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, Balanagar, Medchal, Shameerpet, and several other areas. “Teams gather information and conduct checks. We have nabbed persons indulging in unlawful activities including consumption of liquor or illegal gaming activities,” officials said.

So far, the police have booked around a dozen cases against people caught engaging in illegal activities at farm houses. “Wherever there is the complicity of the owner of the farm house or staff, action is also being initiated against them,” he added.

Five people were arrested for allegedly organizing prostitution at a farm house in Kothur, Shadnagar, last month. As these are private premises, away from the city, and provide privacy, law breakers are turning to farm houses for illegal activities.
