Cyberabad Police Solve Dundigal Murder Mystery, Arrest Accused After Detailed CCTV Analysis

In a major breakthrough, Cyberabad police have solved the murder of a woman in Dundigal with the arrest of 36-year-old A. Praveen Kumar on Saturday morning. The accused, a private employee from Utnoor Village in Adilabad, was apprehended after police conducted a meticulous analysis of footage from over 60 closed-circuit surveillance cameras within a 10-kilometer radius of the crime scene.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Medchal Zone, N Koti Reddy, Kumar had been in a close relationship with the deceased, identified as B. Sharadha, after meeting her in 2013 while running a mobile shop. Over the years, the two frequently communicated via WhatsApp and met in person. However, in 2020, Sharadha moved to Hyderabad and allegedly began blackmailing Kumar, threatening to expose their relationship to his family and file legal charges against him to ruin his reputation.

To avoid public humiliation, Kumar reportedly paid Sharadha Rs. 2 lakh a year ago. Despite the payment, Sharadha continued to blackmail him, demanding more money. In a desperate attempt to end the harassment, Kumar devised a plan to recover compromising videos from her phone and eliminate her. On October 23, 2024, he traveled from Utnoor to Mallampet, where Sharadha was residing.

During their meeting, Kumar demanded that Sharadha return the videos, but she reportedly asked for more money. Enraged by her refusal and the ongoing extortion, Kumar strangled her to death. After the murder, he staged the crime scene to mislead investigators, snatching Sharadha’s jewelry, including a chain and earrings, and attempting to make it look like a robbery gone wrong.

However, his efforts to cover his tracks were undone by the diligence of Cyberabad police. Using advanced CCTV footage analysis, the police tracked Kumar’s movements across multiple locations in the city. The crucial breakthrough came after the Crime Analysis Team (CAT) reviewed footage from over 60 cameras in the area, eventually identifying Kumar’s involvement.

On Saturday morning, police apprehended him at Secunderabad, where he had been hiding following the murder. Kumar was later taken into custody by the Dundigal police for further questioning.

The case highlights the increasing use of technology in solving crimes, with the police’s ability to piece together vital evidence from surveillance footage playing a crucial role in unraveling the mystery. The arrest of Kumar has brought closure to a case that had shocked the local community, and the police have expressed their satisfaction with the thorough investigation.

Authorities have stated that further investigations are ongoing, and Kumar will be charged with murder, blackmail, and other related offenses.
