Dalit Teenager Gang-Raped, Names 4 Upper Caste Men

A 19-year-old Dalit young girl from Uttar Pradesh has been allegedly gang-raped by four men of the upper caste who furthermore have attempted to kill her by strangulating her.

The young Dalit girl has been taken to an intensive care unit (ICU) in Aligarh medical college, where She figured out how to give her statement to the police days after the occurrence and has expressed that she was Gang-Raped by four upper caste men on September 14 when she had gone to gather fodder for animals.

The charged was taken into custody and remanded to judicial custody after the family claimed that he had attempted to murder the young girl over some old animosity.

On Tuesday, following the young girl’s announcement, rape charges were included to the FIR and three additional individuals were booked.

Hathras SP Vikrant Vir stated: One more accused has been held and others, too, will be arrested soon.

Additional SP Prakash Kumar said the young girl’s statement under section 161 of CrPC was not registered before by the investigating officer as the young girl had been in the ICU after she was taken to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Aligarh from Hathras locale clinic. He said the charge sheet would be registered soon.

Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Deepak Kumar had met the survivor and claimed that the family was being threatened by the charged as well as the police.

He said that he would give a definite report on the issue to party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi and party state chief Ajay Kumar Lallu.

Congress head Sheoraj Jivan Valmiki, who additionally came to Hathras on Wednesday to meet the survivor’s relatives, has requested activity against the police officers for the delay in registering the statement, adding that injustice to the individuals from the Dalit community group would not go on without serious consequences.

In another horrific incident, two unidentified men, wearing face masks, barged into a 45-year-old wedded woman’s home in Kanpur region’s Bidhnu area on Tuesday night and raped her. Upon hearing the noise, the victim’s son woke up following which the accused fled. Police have filed a case and endeavors are on to establish the identities of the guilty individuals, the SHO Pushpraj Singh stated, including that a few people have been detained in this connection.
