HYDERABAD: Man stabbed to death over inter-caste marriage

In Hyderabad, another ‘honour’ killing case has emerged, in which a 24-year-old man was allegedly stabbed and killed in public by his wife’s relatives over his inter-caste marriage. Neeraj Kumar Panwar, identified as the victim, was stabbed to death by five men, in front of his father, near the Begum Bazar area within Shahinayathgunj police station limits on Friday night. He and his father were said to be on their way home from the Begum Bazar area, with his head hit by a granite stone, after closing the store. The attackers are said to be relatives of the young businessman’s wife. They stabbed him with a sickle used to cut coconut, news agency IANS reported.

A resident of Kolsawadi in the Begum Bazar neighbourhood, Panwar, had a love marriage about a year and a half ago with Sanjana (20), a resident of the same neighbourhood but belonged to a different caste. The couple has a one-and-a-half-month-old child together. It was reported that Sanjana’s family disapproved of the marriage and developed a grudge against Neeraj.
