Delhi Borders Under Increased Security as SKM Calls for Nationwide Protest

In response to the nationwide demonstration call by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) in support of the protesting wrestlers against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Delhi Police have implemented heightened security measures along the city’s borders, including Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur.

Senior police officials have stated that additional police personnel have been deployed, and extra checkpoints have been established to ensure the prevention of any untoward incidents. Thorough inspections are being conducted on vehicles entering Delhi from neighboring states at the borders.

The SKM had earlier announced plans for demonstrations and effigy burning of the WFI chief on June 5, which coincides with a rally in support of Brij Bhushan organized by RSS workers and Mahants in Ayodhya. The SKM has condemned the repression of the wrestlers’ protest on May 28, particularly the actions taken against women wrestlers during the Mahila mahapanchayat.

Accusing the Modi Government of having an anti-woman and anti-people agenda, the SKM has demanded the withdrawal of FIRs against the protestors and the arrest of Brij Bhushan.

With tensions escalating and demonstrations planned, the Delhi Police’s heightened security measures aim to maintain law and order and prevent any undesirable incidents. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to assert their demands and positions.
