Delhi excise policy scam case: Kavitha appears before ED for questioning

K. Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and an MLC, arrived at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) headquarters here on Monday to attend the second round of questioning in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam.

Her second round of questioning was scheduled for Thursday (March 16), which she skipped, stating that she would respond via email or be questioned at her home.

On March 20, the ED summoned her again to join the investigation.

During her first appearance, she was reportedly confronted with Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Pillai, who represented the South Group, which allegedly gave kickbacks of Rs 100 crore to AAP leaders. The finances were allegedly used during the Goa Assembly polls.

Pillai has reportedly said that he was Kavitha’s associate.

On March 15, the ED recorded the statement of Buchchi Babu, the former auditor of the BRS MLC and a member of the South Group.

Kavitha has maintained that she has never met former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who has been arrested by the CBI and ED in connection with the case, and that her name is being dragged into it unnecessarily. According to the ED, Kavitha is also one of the South Group representatives in the excise policy case.

Soon after Kavitha boarded for New Delhi, speculations and rumors started making rounds that she might be arrested on March 20 after appearing before the ED for questioning in Delhi Liquor Scam.
