Delhi liquor scam: Kavitha to file defamation case against BJP after allegations

On Monday, TRS MLC K Kavitha criticized Delhi BJP leaders for raising allegations against her and Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao and said she was bringing a defamation lawsuit against them.

In an interview with media persons, she accused the BJP of using central agencies to target opposition leaders. She added that all allegations raised by BJP leaders would remain allegations.

She said she will seek an injunction order against those making allegations over the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, retaliating against Delhi BJP leaders’ attempt to drag TRS into the ongoing row.

Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao criticized the policies of the Central government, she said.

She said the Centre is playing vindictive politics, which is harmful to democracy. Making baseless accusations is not a healthy trend in politics, she said.  The BJP leaders were trying to weaken the TRS leaders psychologically through such efforts, she felt.

Allegations made against TRS

The BJP MP Parvesh Verma claimed on Sunday that KCR’s family members partook in the meetings on the Delhi excise policy’s formulation.

Further, he claimed that Telangana and West Bengal have similar excise policies.

At the Oberoi Hotel, members of Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao’s family attended meetings on the formulation of the Delhi excise policy. The same policy was implemented in Punjab by KCR’s family members. Along with Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal, they prepared a plan for Delhi, Verma claimed.

According to Verma, K Kavitha acted as a middleman between the liquor mafia and the AAP government.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, another Delhi BJP leader, alleged that KCR’s daughter K Kavitha attended meetings on Delhi’s excise policy in the five-star hotel.

K Kavitha brought liquor mafias from south India to Delhi. There was advance payment for the Goa and Punjab elections, Sirsa alleged.
