Delhi Man Apprehended for Kidnapping Minor Girl After FB Friendship

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has taken an 18-year-old man into custody for kidnapping a 15-year-old young girl, whom he became friends with on Facebook and attempted to lure her into marriage.

The young girl was traced to the Badarpur border and saved. The accused, Shoyeb Khan, had left her in an autorickshaw, after traveling with her through at least four states for over a month.

The police activity came after the family of the girl approached the Rajouri Garden police station in October after which the kidnapping case was filed and a team created to trace the girl.

Facebook, WhatsApp, FB Messenger, and all relevant social media account of the kidnapped girl were investigated in detail by the police. It was seen that the girl was in contact with the accused on WhatsApp and Facebook.

Raids were led at the Govind Garh village of Nuh district in the Mewat area of Haryana. However, the family members of the accused were not found and the girl also stayed out of the police’s reach. A police officer was left at the spot to accumulate information on the two.

Afterward, the accused was caught and he uncovered that he had sent a friend request to the girl on Facebook, which she accepted. Later on, the two of them became good friends and talked every now and again.

As indicated by the police, Shoyeb Khan began forcing the victim to get married to him. Shoyeb arrived at Dehli on October 22 and took the girl to Muzaffarpur in Bihar and later moved to Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh.

He then took her back to Delhi and had left her in the autorickshaw when the police saved her.

Deepak Purohit, DCP West Delhi, said: “The accused is a resident Alwar district in Rajasthan and has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.”
