Hyderabad: Rajat Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer, today said the demonstration of EVMs and VVPATS has been organized at the Victory Playground Chaderghat here where all the representatives of various political parties, even the physically challenged and disabled persons also participated in the demonstration.
The demonstration and awareness was successfully conducted with mock polling, voting process and other process of EVMs, VVPATs have been conducted by M. Dana Kishore, DEO and Commissioner, GHMC, along with senior officials of GHMC duly explaining the entire process which was very clear to the participants and the representatives have also satisfied the process which they have seen said the CEO.
The CEO stated to create awareness among the citizens the DEO Hyderabad has provided 19 mobile vehicles in which some of the vehicles have been provided for physically challenged and disabled persons, specially trained professionals have been deployed in the mobile vehicles who will explain about the entire process of voting, etc. to the persons.
The CEO further stated that for the first time in the state that the VVPATS are being used for ensuing elections so as to have detailed information of VVPATS, functioning etc. the demonstration has been organized and it was successfully conducted by the DEO Hyderabad for which the CEO has congratulated Shri M Dana Kishore for the said purpose.
M. Dana Kishore, DEO and Commissioner, GHMC said that the GHMC is organizing one static unit with secure shelter booth in each ward so that the citizens of their jurisdiction can visit the static unit to know the complete process this has been organized for the convenience of the citizens as they can visit the center as per their convenience.

Dana Kishore, DEO and Commissioner, GHMC said that GHMC making all elaborate arrangements for the Disabled persons to cast their vote without any inconvenience to the voters and planning to increase the voting percentage for ensuing elections for which awareness campaigns are being taken up on priority to create awareness about modernized EVMs, VVPATs at Community Halls, Parks and Important Public places to educate them.
The DEO said that as per the available records there are around 29,000 disabled pensioners are existing and directions have been given to the EROs and connected officials to thoroughly verify and enroll their names in the electoral rolls by visiting their residence. Certain instructions have been given to the EROs to ensure that the names of the disable persons in the Electoral rolls at the nearest polling stations of their residence. The GHMC is providing free transportation, wheel chairs, ramps, and toilets for women, helpers/escorts, basic minimum facilities in all the polling stations for ensuing to cast their vote in the first hour on the polling day.
The DEO added Publicity campaigns like TV scrolls, Radio Jingles, Cinema Slides and discussions with the Disabled Committee members live interaction in the TV channels to increase the voting percentage of the disabled persons will be taken on priority. He further stated that 18,000 Swachh workers will be deployed as Escorts /Helpers in all the Polling stations. A Nodal Officer will be appointed to look after the Polling process of the Disabled Persons.
The DEO Hyderabad said that all the representatives of various political parties and disabled persons have also attended the demonstration and responded and satisfied positively about the process explained to them like voting, mock poll, process of EVM’s and VVPATS. Shri M Shashidhar Reddy, one of the representatives of the political party was interacted with the CEO and senior officials of the GHMC and inquired about the entire process and appreciated for the conduct of the demonstration in the interest of the citizens to cast their vote without any inconvenience for ensuing elections.
Later on the CEO, DEO, along with the representatives of the political parties, disabled persons, have flagged off the mobile vehicles to go around various wards for creating awareness to the citizens today at GHMC Victory Playground.
Additional Commissioners Mrs. Harichandana IAS, Jayaraj Kennedy, Ziauddin Chief Engineer, Senior officials of various wings of the GHMC have participated at the demonstration. (NSS)
