E-Boarding for International Passengers Introduced by Hyderabad Airport

Hyderabad: GMR-drove Hyderabad International Airport on Tuesday reported the introduction of end-to-end paperless e-boarding for international flights, in this way turning into the first airport in India to do as such.

The service is at present accessible for select international flights of IndiGo Airlines. The airport introduced its e-boarding services for international trips after the government’s permission based on a thorough and effective pilot.

IndiGo Airlines turned into the maiden transporter to initiate this facility when their Sharjah-bound travellers e-boarded themselves from Hyderabad on the 6E 1405 trip on October 2.

Other booked international carries working out of Hyderabad are presently in the process of integration with the airport’s e-boarding framework, which will be rolled out shortly, airport operator GHIAL stated.

Hyderabad International Airport went live for its domestic e-boarding facility in December 2015.

It declares to be the first and only airport in India to offer genuine e-boarding to all its domestic travellers across all flights.

Pradeep Panicker, the CEO, GHIAL, stated, “We are delighted to announce that after about five years of successfully operating e-boarding for domestic flights, we have launched the e-boarding solution for international operations as well — another first for any Indian airport.”

He added, “In the present scenario of the coronavirus pandemic, automating the passenger journey provides more pleasant airport experience. After the success of the pilot project and all regulatory approvals, we have used our internal capabilities to take up e-boarding solution for international operations,” said Pradeep Panicker.

He said he is certain that very soon they will get all international transporters working out of Hyderabad onto their e-boarding platform.

The e-boarding system is completely backwards-compatible, and travellers will be allowed to pick between utilizing regular boarding passes or electronic boarding passes on their cell phones to utilize the system.

International e-boarding offers different advantages like decreasing line waiting time at the airports, eliminating redundancies at checkpoints, causes

The aircraft to optimize their processes and improve their resource utilization.

The real-time information accessibility of all traveller checkpoints helps airports to persistently improve operational efficiency. The e-boarding upgrades the general safety and security of the airport, it stated.

Any traveller boarding an international flight utilizing e-boarding service will have to book the ticket on the web and do a web check-in. At the departures entrance gate, he needs to show the digital/printed boarding card at the e-boarding scanner; CISF approves the documents and permits traveller entry. At the registration counter, the registration agent checks the boarding card and traveller drops the luggage at the counter. The traveller at that point finishes passport verifications customs by officials of the Bureau of Immigration.

At the security screening zone, he places the hand baggage on the (ATRS) Automatic Tray Retrieval System and goes for the security check. He checks the boarding card on e-boarding scanner and proceeds onward.

At the declaration of boarding, he scans the boarding card on the e-boarding scanner and moves towards the doors for boarding the aeroplane.
