Eight years completed for Dilsukhnagar bomb blasts

Hyderabad: It has been eight years since the deadly Dilsukhnagar twin bomb blasts took place in the city. The bomb blasts claimed 17 lives. A special NIA court, which tried the bomb blasts case convicted five terrorists in the case with capital punishment after three years of the incident.  The twin bomb blasts took place within a span of 150 meters.

The terrorists kept the bombs in tiffin boxes and installed the bombs on cycle in front of the crowded Dilsukhnagar bus stand. The incident also left 120 others injured. The police booked cases against terrorist Yasin Bhatkal. Bhatkal was sentenced to death by the special NIA court along with four other accused. The names of the other accused were Asadullah Akther, Zia Ur Rahman, Tehseer Akthar, and Ajaz Shaik.

The case is still being heard in the high court of the state on the appeal by the accused. The mastermind of the twin bomb blasts Bhatkar alleged to have committed similar bomb blasts in various places of the country. According to the charge sheet filed against him, it was alleged that bhatkal was responsible for ten similar bomb blasts.
