Encroachments over Jalpally Lake continue to pose threat to the Water Body

Encroachments over Jalpally Lake through dumping of landfill and debris on the shores almost from all sides continues while the surfeit water, finding no way out, is frantically entering into Jalpally village causing inundation issue during rainy season.

The Jalpally Lake received breaches in recent rains while overflowing from several locations unable to put up with the heavy inflows from upstream areas. Though much of the water spread area was shrunk due to brazen levels of encroachment, the dumping of landfill continues to pose great risk to the survival of the water body.

Much of the FTL area was allegedly turned into ventures while incursion into Lake keeps on moving haphazardly while the officials keep mum over the issue despite having fully acquainted that things were flowing as usual around the Lake. Despite being notified by the HMDA and tagged with ID No. 3602, the sprawling Lake is losing most of its FTL area to the hands of encroachers.

Though the Jalpally Lake shares the boundaries with Bandlaguda in Chandrayangutta, Mailardevpally in Rajendranagar and with the Jalpally Village, the Lake largely comes under Maheshwaram constituency represented by Minister for Education Sabita Indra Reddy.

It is said that nexus between the leaders, officials and the land sharks is said to be the primary causative factor behind the ever increasing encroachments over the FTL area that are shrinking the water body thereby putting the survival of Lake into jeopardy.

“Everything is open to all here. From local people to leaders and officials everyone is aware of what is actually going on around the Lake. Influential people keep on cashing in on the situation openly while few others do so covertly or cohesively resulting in gradually shrinking of the water body,” rued Pasha Ali Shoukat, who is familiar to the area and the situation prevailing around the water body.
