Ex-MLA Della Godfrey passes away

Hyderabad: Former nominated MLA of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Della Godfrey passed away while undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital at Hyderguda here  on Tuesday morning. She was 62.

Della suffered cardiac stroke six days ago and breathed her last at 6.30 am today, her family members said. Della Godfrey was nominated to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly twice and continued as MLA till 2004. She was a very popular person, who strove for the welfare not only the Anglo-Indian community, but all. Her mother Marjorie Godfrey was also a nominated member of AP Legislative Assembly and also Parliament.

Born and brought up in Hyderabad, she studied in Rosary Convent and graduated from OU College for Women in Koti. A quintessential Hyderabadi, Della Godfrey is known for her service to people. The mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Gunfoundry at 3.30 pm on Wednesday. Her funeral will be at Catholic Cemetery, Narayanguda later.

KCR recalls services of Della

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed deep condolences on the demise of Della Godfrey. CM remembered the services of late Godfrey as Former Nominated MLA. In a message the CM conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved leader’s family members. (NSS)
