Failure in implementing subsidy loan scheme attract state-wide protest: Warned Congress

Terming the allocation of Rs.50 crore under subsidy loan scheme for minorities as a drop in the ocean, an all minorities’ delegation led by senior Congress leader Osman Mohamed Khan met Chairman Telangana State Minority Finance Corporation (TSMFC) Imtiaz Ishaq on Saturday and demanded him to prevail upon the government for a release of atleast Rs.1,000 crore that suffices to facilitate poor families of all the minority communities under the scheme.

“During the year 2015-2016, a fund to the tune of Rs.200 crore has been released to implement schemes aimed at benefiting the poor families of minority communities that include Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Parsies and Jains. However, no funds were released in the last six years that translates into an overdue of Rs.1200 crore minority budget on the part of the Telangana government,” explained Osman.

However, he said, the government has cunningly allocated a mere Rs.50 crore under the scheme which is nothing but a drop in the ocean and not at all sufficient enough to benefit all the eligible families of the minority communities who are waiting since a long to see commencement of the subsidy loan scheme.

“The Government should release atleast 1,000 crore immediately under the subsidy loan scheme that helps the eligible families of minority communities spread across all the 33 districts in the state to avail the opportunity,” he demanded.

“CM KCR is habitual in making a mockery of minorities in the state,” he said adding that “A promise of 12 percent reservation to Muslim minority was whittled down to 3 percent now which was 4 percent when the KCR came to power. Now he is making a mockery of all the minority communities by allocating a mere Rs.50 crores under subsidy loan scheme while it required atleast Rs.1,000 to cover all the beneficiaries.”

Though the Chairman TSMFC assured that that additional amount of Rs.70 crores has been allocated under the scheme, Osman Mohd Khan said, this much of fund is not at all sufficient to do justice with the eligible families as 40 thousand applications from each mandal has been filed to avail the loan scheme.

Claiming that no fund will be issued sincerely by the KCR government to implement the scheme with letter and spirit, the senior congress leaders warned that the state-wide demonstrations and a siege of Wakf Board will be planned if the Telangana government fails to release sufficient funds for the implementation of the subsidy loan scheme.
