Fake Certificate Racket Busted in Hyderabad: Two Arrested, 36 Forged Degrees Seized

In a major crackdown, the South-East Zone Task Force of Hyderabad Police busted a fake educational certificate racket and arrested two individuals involved in producing and distributing forged degrees. The arrests were made near Chacha Nehru Park under Masab Tank police limits, and 36 fake certificates from various universities along with two mobile phones were seized.

The accused have been identified as Syed Imran, also known as “Professor” or “Zaker”, a 40-year-old home tutor from Aman Nagar, Talabkatta, and Mohd Khader alias Junaid, a 27-year-old unemployed resident of Syed Nagar, First Lancer.

According to the police, Syed Imran was actively supplying fake degree certificates to individuals aspiring to study or work abroad. His accomplice, Khader, had purchased one such forged certificate—a BBA degree from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi—for Rs 80,000 to aid in his overseas education plans.

Investigations revealed that Imran collaborated with a Delhi-based associate, Rohan alias Shyamlal of Najfgarh, who is currently absconding. Imran would collect candidate details and payments, which he forwarded to Rohan via WhatsApp. In turn, Rohan created the counterfeit degrees and couriered them to Hyderabad for distribution to clients.

During the raid, police recovered 36 forged certificates from Imran. Authorities also disclosed that Imran is a repeat offender with three criminal cases previously filed against him. Two non-bailable warrants had been pending for his arrest.

Efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend Rohan. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector S Saidababu (South-East Zone Task Force) and Inspector A Praveen Kumar (Masab Tank Police Station), with support from Sub-Inspectors Sk. Kaviuddin, P. Sairam, M. Madhu, M. Satheesh, and their teams.

The Hyderabad Police have warned the public against falling prey to such fraudulent schemes and emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in forging or using fake educational credentials.
