Farmer burns crop due to officials’ harassment: TKS chief

Hyderabad: Telangana Kisan Congress chairman Anvesh Reddy on Tuesday said the farmers in the State were facing problems in the sale of their produce. He alleged that the authorities were delaying in purchasing the product from the farmers.

Anvesh Reddy said a farmer from Chinnaboina gram panchayat under Eturunagaram Mandal of Mulug district set on fire all his produce as he could not sell his paddy even after struggling for 20 days. He alleged that the officials did not weigh his paddy prompting him to take the extreme step. He also said the farmers were facing many problems due to delays in weighing their produce. He also alleged that the millers were also cheating the farmers in the name of quality check.

Anvesh Reddy alleged that the cotton farmers were forced to sell their produce for less rates to the millers as the CCI officials were insisting on quality. He also alleged that the officials bought only 50 trolleys of the produce at the Jammikunta market as against the stock of 185 trolleys.  He demanded that the State government take stern action against the CCI officials and issue proper guidelines to them.
