Farmers make futile attempt to lay siege around CM camp office

Hyderabad: Scores of farmers of the state today made a futile attempt to lag siege around the camp office of the chief minister of the state Pragathi Bhavan as part of their protest program. The farmers held a protest program under the aegis of Rythu Aaikga Vedika.

The farmers came from districts like Karimnagar, Jagitiyala, and Rajanna Siricilla district. However, the police obstructed the farmers en route to the Pragathi Bhavan and took them into preventive custody. They were later taken to Goshamahal police station.

Speaking on the occasion the farmers have made it clear that they had cultivated a fine variety of rice as part of the regulated farming policy of the state government. They, however, said that they had lost the crops due to untimely rains and floods. They also said that they were facing problems at the grain procurement centers due to the damaged quality of their grains. They demanded the state government buy their produce for Rs. 2500 per quintal immediately. They also alleged that the authorities concerned were not properly buying the crops like paddy maize and cotton.
