Kanpur: In a shocking occurrence, a 43-year-old man killed his minor son and afterwards slept with the body through the night, police stated on Monday. The man has since been apprehended.
Sarika, a government teacher, alleged that her husband Alankar Srivastava woke her up on Sunday morning and said that he had choked their son to death during the night at their Kanpur residence. She called up her family members, who educated the police about the incident.
A senior police official said: Sarika said that her husband killed their son on Saturday night and went to sleep with the body in the living room. The next morning, he went to the bedroom and told her that he had killed their seven-year-old son. The family members are still in a shock and we are yet to record their statement.
Sources stated that Alankar was depressed after he lost his job a couple of months prior.
In the interim, on the basis of the complaint given by Sarika, police booked Srivastava for murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The couple furthermore has two girls.
The police said the accused had admitted to the killing, including that the body of the child was sent for post mortem. Further investigations are in progress.
In another incident, A twenty-eight-year-old pregnant woman was murdered with a sharp-edged object in a village in Chitrakoot of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday morning, police stated.
The body of the woman, who was four-month pregnant, was discovered lying on a cot in a room of her home by her spouse, SHO, Raipura police headquarters, Sushilchandra Sharma stated, adding that the incident occurred in Khajuriha Kala village.
The SHO said the woman’s husband has filed a complaint against a woman and a young man of the same village, and a case was filed.
