Fitness-Related Heart Attacks: A Growing Concern

Sridhar, a 31-year-old man from Khammam, Telangana, died on Monday after suffering a heart attack shortly after working out at a gym. This is the second time in two days that a gym-related heart attack has occurred in the town. Sridhar, the son of former Congress politician Radha Kishore, had complained of feeling uneasy after leaving the gym. He was rushed to the hospital by family members, but he was unable to be rescued.

Sridhar had previously sustained life-threatening injuries in an accident. This incidence adds to a string of incidents in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in which young people have died suddenly while participating in physical activities such as working out at a gym, playing sports, or completing daily jobs.

  • Last month, a guy died of heart arrest while playing badminton in Jagtiyal town.
  • In March, a schoolteacher in Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh, died after suffering a heart arrest in the classroom.
  • On February 28, a man in Hyderabad died of heart arrest while playing badminton.
  • On February 25, a 19-year-old man fainted and died while dancing at a relative’s wedding in Nirmal district.
  • On February 22, a 24-year-old police constable in Hyderabad suffered a heart arrest and died while working out at a gym.
  • On February 20, a man fainted and died during a Haldi ceremony at a relative’s wedding in Hyderabad.

These examples underscore the significance of prioritising cardiovascular health and raising awareness about the risks connected with intense activity. Individuals must have frequent health check-ups and speak with healthcare specialists to ensure their well-being, particularly if they have pre-existing diseases or a history of injuries.
