Two days after opening a gate of Himayath Sagar on September 20, the authorities at Osman Sagar Lake has also opened two crest gates of the reservoir on September 23 after witnessing heavy inflow into the reservoir.
According to sources, the Osman Sagar Lake too is witnessing heavy inflows from upstream areas due to incessant rains in catchment areas of the water body. As the reservoir is receiving 350 cusecs of water every day, two gates upto one foot was lifted to release 350 cusecs of water into Musi River course.
The present storage capacity of Osman Sagar Lake stood at 1789.85 (3.866 TMC) as against the full tank level of 1970 feet (3.900 TMC).

On the other hand, the Himayath Sagar Lake too witnessing the inflows as usual where one gate was already opened too feet Musi River. As the reservoir is receiving 400 cusecs of inflows, the authorities have opened one gate here to release 350 cusecs of water to feed Musi River. The present storage capacity of Himayath Sagar stood at 1763.35 (2.912 TMC) feet as against the full tank level of 11763.50 (2.97 TMC) feet.
Following incessant rain since Monday in city and suburban besides catchments areas, both the lakes are witnessing heavy inflows that prompted the officials to keep an eye over the situation and release the water as and when the need arises by lifted one or two gates to avoid any unsavoury incidents in low laying areas abutting to water bodies like previous wrought.
