For unauthorized banners, GHMC fines BJP, TRS in Hyderabad

GHMC officials have slapped fines worth lakhs of rupees on TRS and BJP members for putting up banners, posters, and signboards without permission, GHMC sources said. A fine of Rs 3 lakh was imposed on TRS while challans to the extent of Rs 20 lakh were issued to the BJP.

According to a senior official of the GHMC, both parties will pay more money if the unauthorized banners and posters remain. TRS and BJP members have been fined lakhs of rupees by GHMC officials for putting up banners, posters, and signboards without permission.

As part of its support for Yashwant Sinha, TRS has propagated his candidacy as the joint candidate of opposition parties for the presidential election. K Chandrashekar Rao personally received Sinha at Begumpet Airport on Saturday, during his visit to the city.

TRS workers rode two-wheelers to the rally where he was taken to a meeting place. With multiple banners and hoardings, the route to Jala Vihar where Sinha and KCR addressed the electorate was turned pink, the TRS’s official color.

Through its social media accounts, GHMC’s Enforcement Vigilance & Disaster Management department has received several pictures of banners and posters that were unauthorized. After receiving the messages, the civic body issued notices asking the parties to pay the fine within one week.

A fine of Rs 20 lakh has been imposed on BJP in different notices so far. A similar notice has been sent to TRS, asking them to pay the fine of Rs 3 lakh as well. When we receive messages from our social media accounts, our officials check if the banners are authorized. According to the official, notices will be issued to unauthorized parties.

In addition to online complaints and pictures, the official explained that GHMC field staff would also survey their respective areas and levy fines if they found any banners that were not authorized.

A civic body would send another notice if the party didn’t respond within a week, sources said.

A notice would be sent to the party’s general secretary if the banner was put up by a political party. Individuals would be notified by GHMC officials by tracing their contact information.
