Foundation laid for Schneider Electric Smart Factory in Hyderabad

Schneider Electric, an energy management and automation company, laid the foundation for a Smart Factory at the city’s GMR Industrial Park on Wednesday. In addition, the company invested Rs 300 crore in the state.

The upcoming Schneider Electric Smart Factory will significantly contribute to the State’s economy, bolstering its position as a leading investment hotspot.  With India on the rise as an economic powerhouse, opportunities are limitless. We believe that, in addition to meeting the needs of the industry, this facility will increase revenue generation opportunities and boost job creation, IT Minister KT Rama Rao said.

The upcoming 18-acre unit will be the company’s second factory in Telangana, serving as a harbinger of growth while strengthening supply chain operations. The new facility will be built in three stages. The first phase, with a facility area of 2 lakh square feet, is scheduled to be completed in September 2023.

Each of the three phases will see a Rs 300 crore investment, bringing the total to around Rs 900 crore. The company intends to employ 1,000 people directly and indirectly in each phase, totaling 3,000 at the new unit.

“The upcoming Smart Factory is our commitment to making Hyderabad the country’s leading manufacturing hub. We will invest more than Rs 300 crore in this project, which will result in the creation of an additional 1,000 jobs. We adhere to India for India and India for the Globe strategy. I am grateful to the State of Telangana for its assistance in making this dream a reality,” said Anil Chaudhry, Zone President, India, and CEO and MD of Schneider Electric India.

Industry 4.0 technologies will be used to power the upcoming smart factory. With a 75% export volume capacity, this new facility will strengthen our position as a dependable export hub for our global customers. The expansion of our manufacturing base in Telangana will also increase our contributions to the Make in India program, said Javed Ahmad, Sr Vice President, Global Supply Chain, International Region, Schneider Electric.

Schneider Electric’s decades-long presence in India is a success story that reflects the strength of the Indo-French partnership, said Emmanuel Lenain, Ambassador of France.
