In a meeting chaired by city mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi on Wednesday, the 10th Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) standing committee approved 11 different projects including road widening and construction.
During the occasion, the mayor announced that the works were approved for a total of Rs 43.65 crores.
It was decided in the meeting that model markets would be constructed in Ameerpet and Panjagutta at a cost of Rs 13.20 crore and Rs 6.70 crore respectively.
An estimated Rs 18 crore is also being allocated for the construction of a “state of the art” convention hall in Khairatabad’s new 2BHK Housing colony opposite the IMAX.
For a portion of the proposed Secunderabad-Lalapet Flyover between the Ambedkar Statue and Moula Ali, Rs 3 crore has been approved for the construction of a BT.

A proposal to acquire 352 properties has also been approved for the proposed 60m wide road between the Priyadarshini Hotel, Medchal, and the Ambedkar statue, as well as the Dubai Gate to LB Nagar.
Additionally, the committee also approved the acquisition of two properties for the ESI metro station, and 82 properties for the Rathifile bus stop in Secunderabad.
Two other approvals involved fogging machines and laying a sewage pipe from Christian colony to Culvert in Vanasthalipuram.
GHMC has also decided to relax timings for all sanitation workers due to the summer heat and also agreed to bring changes to the bio-metric attendance system.
As a result of several employee unions of the GHMC and sanitation workers staging protests, the GHMC Board arrived at this decision.
According to the GHMC circular, the regular 5 am to 1 pm attendance time was relaxed for summer due to the workers’ health and the difficulty of discharging duties during summer. The new timings will be in place until the summer ends.
