GHMC goes tough against precarious transportation of construction material

Getting tough against dumping construction materials on the road, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has now started cracking the whip against the violators by imposing hefty fines.

The first such tough measure was reported today when the GHMC official imposed a fine on a construction company at Khanamet that surely left other construction agencies completely spellbound who might walk a fine line henceforth.

It is not out of place to mention that recently the Telugu film actor met with an incident that left him severely injured and primary investigation reveals that the incident took place due to construction material that was scattered all over the road where the mishap happened.

The subsequent outrage over the way the construction material is being transported in the city and posing grave risk for the commuters has put the GHMC officials on their toes who are now unleashing tough measures against the construction agencies transporting construction material precariously.

However, the civil right activists raise a question over GHMC’s move off late.  Finding fault over the way the GHMC officials started imposing fines against construction agencies, Syed Shoukat Ali, a city based community activist said, “The GHMC officials woke up from the slumber only after a star kid was injured in the incident. There were hundreds of such incidents in which common people, especially the road users, suffered almost every day due to unscrupulous dropping of construction materials on roads.”

In several areas, he said, the GHMC staff is well acquainted with the precarious method of transportation adopted by the construction agency but keep mum over the issue as if there are no rules at all to deter the violators. “Now all of a sudden the officials have brought the rule into life and started implementing it to punish the violators not for the people but to save their skin from growing outrage,” he rued.
