To tackle unauthorized parking issues and enhance access to affordable parking spaces, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has announced plans to establish ‘smart (mechanized) car and motorcycle parking’ facilities at KBR Park, Gate-1, near Kadak Chai in the Jubilee Hills GHMC Circle.
Under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, GHMC will engage a private sector entity to design, build, finance, operate, and transfer the parking facilities on a pilot basis.
Covering an area of 405 square meters, the multi-level smart parking facility will accommodate approximately 72 Equivalent Car Spaces (ECS), with around 20% allocated for two-wheelers. The chosen location was identified due to the lack of public parking spaces and the high demand for parking from the public.

GHMC has invited proposals from agencies with technical expertise and sufficient financial capability for the development of smart parking facilities at KBR Park. The concession period will span 10 years, including the construction phase, and interested bidders are required to submit both technical and commercial bids.
As per an assessment conducted at GHMC’s request by the Director of the Center for Energy, Environment, Urban Governance, and Infrastructure Development at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), the city necessitates a minimum of 50 smart mechanized parking facilities.
The estimated capital cost of the project amounts to Rs 3 crore, covering construction expenses, site investigations, project development charges, and other pre-operative costs. The selected concessionaire will be tasked with installing CCTVs throughout the parking complex for surveillance purposes, along with providing adequate lighting.
