Traditional Bonalu festival was started in Hyderabad on a grand scale at the historic Golconda Fort by following corona norms.
A large number of devotees, most of them women and girls attended with the Bonalu on their heads amid much fanfare and fervor.
Endowment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy and Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav offered golden Bonam and Silk clothes to the deity Jagadamba. On behalf of the Government, they attended the rituals as many women offered Bonams to the deity. To mark the occasion a large number of people thronged the fort including children, youth, and old.

Ministers participated in the related festivities at the fort and asked the people to follow Corona protocols.
The government has offered funds for the Bonalu festival for this year as the corona cases decreased while last year there was no chance.
They said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has offered funds for the grand celebration of the Bonalu. Last year we did not celebrate it as there were more corona cases, they said.
KCR is kind enough to provide funding for the Bonalu festival, the ministers said. They said that they prayed to the goddess for routing out corona or other diseases for the well-being of the people.

The Bonalu festival will be held for about two to three weeks in July and August and the government made necessary arrangements for smooth conduct. Facilities are provided at the site with police guarding the fort area and regulating traffic and vehicles.
