Google Introduces Families,To Encourage Parent-Children Tech Conversations

Over the past few years, Google has become a household name. With the easy availability of the internet, it has concerned some of the parents across the world to keep a check on the things that their kids have access to and how much of screen time is required.

To enable parents to have better conversations with their children about technology and have more control over the sites, Google has introduced “families.google”. It is a website which helps the families and kids understand the technology around.

Google Encourages Parental Control

As per a study done by Google, two out of five parents are not confident in talking to their children about different technology-related topics. This discussion includes screen time, discovering apps or games and digital wellbeing.

However, the new website offers details and guides that will help the kids understand technology and the parents in understanding how to approach the kids for the same.

Google released a statement and said that apart from understanding the know-hows of the technology and talks around technology, users can also discover some of the latest apps and services. Along with more information about the parental controls.

With the new feature, parents will be able to encourage children to spend more time with the apps that are approved by them under “always allowed”.

Google further informed that parents will be able to monitor the daily, weekly and monthly reports about the kid’s activities. The report will not only include what their children watch and their screen time. But also how much time they spend on what apps or sites and how it changes throughout.

Parents Increased Screen Time Last Year; Reports

As per the latest reports, because of the pandemic and the following lockdown parents (3 out of 5) increased the screen time for their children as everyone was at home. The parents also had to increase the screen time, because the schools were shut and the classes started to happen online. Schools across the world digitised their education system.

Google said in a statement they are also developing an online firm named Headspace. The aim is to create content that will help the families around to practice mindfulness and wellbeing.

The company also said that as soon as next month, an episode from the series Headspace Breathers will be released on a weekly basis on YouTube and YouTube Kids.
