Google signs MoU with Telangana govt to benefit youth and women entrepreneurs

The technology giant Google signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government to bring the benefits of the digital economy to youth and women entrepreneurs.

With this partnership, Google will provide scholarships to Telangana’s youth for Google Career Certificates, support women entrepreneurs through digital and financial training, and support Government efforts toward school modernization with digital teaching and learning solutions and tools.

Additionally, Google will assist in improving public transportation and using digital technologies in agriculture as part of the joint effort.

Growing presence in Telangana

Adding to its commitment to investing and expanding its presence in Telangana, Google unveiled the design for the ground-up development it will build on the 7.3-acre site it acquired in Gachibowli in 2019.

Its design prioritizes sustainability and energy efficiency throughout its 3 million square feet. After commissioning, it will provide highly skilled tech workers with a healthy, collaborative work environment that is both resilient and adaptable, designed to serve the city for years to come.

The building design was unveiled onsite during a ceremony attended by Telangana IT and MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao.

KT Rama Rao, who spoke at the event, commented that he was glad to see Google deepening its roots in Hyderabad through the construction of this landmark building, which incorporates sustainability into its design in view of Hyderabad’s large and future-focused talent pool. He added, “Since 2017, Google has worked with the Government of Telangana to support the vision of a ‘Digital Telangana’ and further our mutual aim of digitally empowering every citizen.”

Sanjay Gupta, Country Head & Vice President, Google India, said that Hyderabad has been home to their largest employee base ever since they began operating in India. Through their partnership with the Telangana government over the years, they have brought Google’s technologies and programs to the state’s residents. He added, “taking this opportunity, we are pleased to strengthen our association to support and accelerate the Telangana government’s efforts to help young people learn the right skills for employment, support women entrepreneurs with digital skills, and modernize schools.”
