Govt. appoints head of Urdu academy sans governing body

After turning a blind eye towards the promotion of Urdu language in the state, the Telangana Government has now filled the post of Chairmen of the State Urdu Academy by appointing Mohd. Khaja Moinuddin who would be the new president of the institution sans any governing body.

Hailing from Kamareddy district, the new Chairmen Mohd. Khaja Moinuddin is said to be an active member of TRS party before appointing as the president of the Urdu Academy. He would be in office as a president of Telangana State Urdu Academy for a term upto three years.

However, finding fault with the appointment of President Telangana State Urdu Academy without any proper quorum, Syed Iftekhar Hussaini, a community activist said, “The move of the government appointing heads of minority institutions without proper quorum is just eyewash. It is like a body without proper organs to operate properly. It serves no purpose other than the government itself as the defunct body will no longer be able to perform until and unless all the vacant posts would be filled with the functionaries.”

“Neither the government is appointing members to the governing body, nor releasing the budget for the promotion of Urdu language in the state since the year 2019. We never came across such a grim situation of minority institutions in the state ever before. Minority commission became completely defunct in the state leaving no room for the minorities to raise their issues, disputes and injustice meted out to them and gets addressed. This unwholesome situation was created only after the TRS government came to power in 2014,” rued Iftekhar.

Blaming that all the four minority institutions running under the supervision of Minority Department such as Telangana State Urdu Academy, Telangana State Minority Finance Corporation, Telangana State Wakf Board and State Haj Committee are witnessing a similar trend ever since the TRS party came to power, he said, the posts of chairman and director of the institution was filled sans any member of the governing body and all this was to keep the minorities under the false impression of minority friendly government. ”
