Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao has informed that efforts are being made to set up an Aerospace University in Telangana.
Speaking at a programme after inaugurating the French major Safran’s MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility here on Thursday, KT Rama Rao said the Telangana State has become a leading destination for the Aerospace industry and the launch of Safran’s MRO facility would strengthen Telangana’s position in the hub of aerospace and defence activities.
“The day has become a reality after 35 times face to face meetings and 200 plus exchanges of e-mails and other communications between the State government and Safran,” KTR said.
The Minister said the Safran MRO facility would cater not just the needs of Indian airlines, but also the middle East and South East Asia airlines.

Reminding Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar’s words who said that the existing investors are the biggest ambassadors for getting more projects to the State, the Minister said that there is a conduceive atmosphere for investments in Telangana and the State government’s industrial policy, TS-iPASS and other measures are attracting investors to expand their business activities in Telangana.
The MRO facility would overhaul Safran’s Leap 1A and Leap 1B aero engines used by Indian and foreign commercial airlines, KTR said.
