Ever since the world faced an outage of Facebook owned applications like Instagram, Whatsapp and Messenger, the usage of Google maps went up by 125 times.
Indians Reportedly Went Back To Traditions Of Connecting With Family And Friends
As per the new data released by Artificial Intelligence innovation start-up Bobble AI showed that amidst the global outage of major social media platforms, Indians went back to the traditional ways of communications. They went out to meet their friends or families or connected to them via phone calls and SMS.
Meanwhile, the phone dialers also saw high usage with it going up by 75 times. This comes as many people resorted to calling and more personal forms of communication during the outage. Along with this, the global outage reminded the people to pay their bills as Google pay also saw a traffic increase by 200 times.
The report is based on the privacy-complaint data received from 50 million devices in India.
Tabrez Alam, Chief Data and Strategy Office at Bobble AI said in a statement that the global outage of Facebook and its applications revealed new insights in the Communication and internet usage behaviour adopted by the Indians. He informed that there is an increasing dependency of first party data in the industry. And this pool of data must be harnessed in a cookie-less future. A secure way should be created with innovative business solutions to drive analytics, personalisation and predictive audience.
Facebook and Subsidiary Applications Unavailable For Six Hours On October 4
The above report comes after Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook and its Messenger were unavailable to around 3.5 billion users across the world for six hours. The outage moved the traffic to other applications like Signal and Twitter.
Meanwhile, Youtube and Jio Play also saw an increase in the traffic. Along with the gaming industry which witnessed Battle Royal Games have an increase by 70 times, Parking Jam 3D (15 times) and Temple Run (40 times).
